Who we are
Companionship of Works Association (CoWA) is a local not-for-profit organization that was registered in 2000. CoWA is part of a global network of Compagnia Delle Opera (CDO) that is present in over 15 countries and is the local office of CDO in Kenya. Compagnia delle Opere has for the past 25 years been working alongside businessmen and professionals seeking a new, more constructive way to overcome the economic, social and cultural challenges. CoWA is based in Nairobi but works in 5 different provinces. CoWA is currently implementing programs in collaboration with AVSI Foundation, the European Union and MAE (Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs). All the projects have an element of sustainability and economic strengthening of communities.
CoWAs’ main objective is to develop human capacity. CoWA freely helps jobless people to enter the labour market and or become entrepreneurs.
CoWA is dedicated to mutual support and the creation of activities focused on the person’s own good, to reinforce freedom, promote responsibility and to contribute to the common good. In such an experience, one finds the social values and cultural dignity of CoWA; an experience that reveals itself through a continuous and tireless tension towards real knowledge and continuous improvement of skills. The more a work expresses the authentic desire of the person, the more it develops an organic and verifiable relationship amount he people’s common good. CoWA testifies that it is possible to live the work in this way; that by answering to one’s own need, it contributes towards answering everyone’s needs.
